Purpose: Branding

Purpose - Branding

Branding isn’t just a visual experience. The sound of a TV ident can help build identification with a channel and serve as a comforting signal that your favourite show is about to start. It is there to allow an audience to familiarise a channel and make it distinguishable by an audience.  A successful campaign will run a series of idents, creating personalities within those idents will continue a companies ethos and ideology. The branding will be a direct link to the recognition of the audience in choice of colour, style, themes and purpose. The banding will use the success of the channel and choose something recognisable to the audience and something popular. For example the Sky Sports channel shows a football game in the background and the reasons why they would do this is because they know it’s a sports channel and they have to fit their target audience and in the UK the most popular sport is Football so that is purposeful branding.
channel 4 includes an abstract face of Homer Simpson and this is another way of drawing in their target audience in, it shows the kinds f programmes their audience would like to see which allows them to brand their channel appropriately for the audience to enjoy and to feel a sense of synergy if they have features of another well known and American cartoon sit com show.
Branding includes repetition and its embedded in the values of the channel itself, it has synergy with multiple platforms and becomes a name for itself within the TV and entertainment industry.
